Can Control- Summer 2000 issue, Vol 10, issue 1. A pretty good mag, mostly color but some
black and white flix and a few annoying shots of family and friends or something. Some great commissioned looking
pieces and a couple walls of fame, as well as some great characters- these guys have found some of the best US character
artists out there that I've seen. A good, fairly short magazine with a mix of frieghts and walls. |

Graphotism- August/Sept 2000, Issue 21. This is probably the most proffessional outfit out there.Hailing from the UK, Graphotism
probably really does come out as often as it says, every two months, maybe, and has a circulation of 25,000. The layout is awesome
and there are some amazing shots. All color and very weighty, you're not wasting a penny on this one. There's also articles in here,
so if you're looking for all pictures, this isn't it. But expand your mind, the articles are good and even discuss street art beyond graff.
Walls, bombs, freights, wall of fames, lots of international graff, Graphotsim has it all. They've got interviews and reviews,
this is the professional mag, the one we all emulate in and it's got the styles we all bite (admit it, fool). |

Number One- 2000. I love this magazines, unfortunately, i have no idea how often it gets to the States. Based in
Switswerland, it's got pictures from all over, including Germany and the Us and France and more. The layout is totally simple but the color is
amazing and the style is like nothing else. The walls are great and they've got freights and trains the kind we dont' have here in
this public-transportation-behind country. There's one very short interview, otherwise it's all flix. This is a great magazine. |

JVS- Are we Really Vandals?- Issue #3. This mag is in German and English, so its text takes up double the room, and it has quite
a bit of text and ads. The pictures are good and in color, though some are a tiny bit grainy. There are some very cool sketches, but
the mag is mostly trains, with some walls thrown in and a focus on an LA crew. The magazine is pretty lightweight, good design and good
pictures overall, worth a look, maybe not your money, though. |

Thirdshift Magazine- Issue #1, Spring 2000. This magazine is the combination of "The Authority" and "Spreading the Disease"
and what's cool about it is that it claims to show off some writers who don't get up in other magazines. This is mostly US graff,
a mixture of steel and walls, and it doesn't seem to suffer from being "unknon" writers. Plus, I'm not sure it really is- since
when is Jaber somene who doesn't get play in mags? Anyway, the pictures are nice and the layout is very clear and simple. Again,
I'm not sure if this magazine has come out again, so that's too bad, but it's cool if you can get your hands on it (try ebay).

Da Bronx- put out by Mass Appeal, 2001. Mass Appeal is in the process of doing all-graff issues for all 5 Burroughs of NYC, very cool
I already have this one and the Brooklyn one, I'm ordering the Queens one, the other two aren't out yet. Speaking of Mass Appeal- very
rarely is it worth buying if you're just looking for pictures. These five though are worth it. They're all pictures and interviews
and they feature some old stuff as well as the scene now. There's a little too much of the famous guys bragging though, for me> But in all,
a great peak at the scene in really hot spots. |

Full Spectrum- Episode Three. This magazine ROCKS. It's very artistic, that's perhaps the best thing about it, though it announces up front that
it's "just" a cut and paste affair. There's one interview, with Transcend, but the Canadian graff is fabulous. The layout is unique,
the photos are great, and the styles are eclectic and amazing. These guys have collected some amazing pictures. This magazine is definitely
worth getting your hands on and finding out how to get on their list. God Save Canada. |

Hold No Hostage- Issue Two. Good news on this one- issue three is definitely out, though I couldn't order it because I couldn't get any
UK pounds. But if you can, do! This was my first graff mag, and a great one it was! The pictures are solid, the layout is very clean
and satisfying and the Euro style is very cool. There's some trains, some walls, the usual mix and some bombs front and back. I like
the mixture of bombs and walls, it's cool to see what's out there. The magazine is very solid, worth a look and the money. |

Life Sucks Die- Spring/Summer 2000. Okay, here we go, the first graff mag on the list with "other" content. I am something, whatever you want to
call it- a feminist, a graff purist, a prude, but i don't want to see porn, and so far, only LSD has been worth my while as a mag
that has enough graff and little enough porn to purchase. I own a couple issues and I would even buy some more. There's other articles in here,
more than I usually like in a graffiti magazine, but i don't like to be too hardass. LSD is probably for those of you out there more into
the scene than I am, the gross part of the scene, maybe, less of the hip hop part, that is. And if you're in it, you don't need to read this review,
because this is one of those that everyone already knows about. You should look at it- people love it or hate it. I like it. So there. |
 |
XPLICIT GRAFX- vol. 2, issue #004- June, 2000. A French Mag, this one comes out pretty often, as far as I can tell and is pretty
easy to get your hands on. It's a good one, too- all color, all trains, mostly passenger trains in Europe, and the pictures are quality.
There are a couple interviews, short ones with big print (sort of filler), so go for this if you're looking for images. There are
a couple walls with unique style but other than that, don't expect anything dazzling. A good bit of eye candy, nothing substantial but still
very cool. |
